Definitions

Publicly Available Information - Information that is lawfully available to the general public from governmental records, widely distributed media, or disclosures to the general public that are required by law.

"Widely distributed media"- includes telephone books, television or radio programs and newspapers.

Nonpublic personal information - Personally identifiable financial information that is not available from public sources, as described above.

Consumer Reporting Agency - A business that collects and evaluates consumer credit information for the purpose of furnishing consumer reports to third parties.

At Abbeville Savings & Loan :

We may collect information volunteered by you during the application process, gathered from your transactions and experiences with us, and obtained from other authorized sources such as consumer reporting agencies. All information collected and stored by Abbeville Savings & Loan is used for specific business purposes, such as administering your account, complying with state/federal banking regulations, protecting against fraud, and developing a better understanding of your financial needs to provide you with improved products and services.

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.

We may disclose the following information to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address, social security number, assets and income;
  • Information about your transactions with us such as your account balance, payment history and parties to transactions and credit card usage; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency such as your creditworthiness and credit history.
